Toasting with champagne glasses filled with milk, local officials as well as U.S. Senator Bob Menendez, joined Stew Leonard, Jr. on Friday at the groundbreaking of Stew Leonard’s first grocery store in the state of New Jersey, at Paramus Park Mall.
Milk was an apropos choice for the supermarket dubbed “the Disneyland of Dairy” by the New York Times. The new Paramus location –an 80,000 square foot store — will create more than 350 new jobs. It replaces a 45-year-old Sears department store.
The Paramus Park Mall will also be the new home of Stew Leonard’s Wines & Spirits of Paramus, which will move from their current location at 396 Route 17 N to the interior of the Paramus food store (subject to New Jersey Alcohol Beverage Control approval.)
