Outpost in the Burbs has launched “Inside the Outpost,” a podcast series featuring casual, intimate and lively conversations with artists playing the Outpost.
Episodes will be available on all major podcast platforms. Each episode features an exclusive live recording from the featured artist from their Outpost show.
The inaugural podcast premiered on May 30th, 2019 featuring guitarist and songwriter Ryley Walker, who played a show at the Outpost in December 2019. In this podcast, Ryley speaks with John Hammond, talent buyer for the Outpost and Gail Prusslin, head of promotion. It also includes a live performance of “The Halfwit in Me,” originally on Walker’s 2016 album, “Golden Sings That Have Been Sung.”
The show has launched with four episodes released in the first week. Other episodes now available for listening feature conversations with Tony Pallagrosi and Joe D’Urso of the Light of Day Foundation, singer-songwriter Lissie, and artist, author, and producer Richard Barone. Future episodes include conversations and performances from David Bromberg, Richard Thompson, Marcia Ball, Eric Andersen, Joe Pug, and Dave Cousins of Strawbs.
The Bromberg interview was conducted by a team from Montclair State University’s School of Communication who have been partnering with Outpost this past season on several shows. (MSU students are also producing video). Outpost Board of Trustees members Cindy Stagoff and Al Mercuro also participate in future podcast episodes.
Inside the Outpost is produced by the Outpost’s John Hammond, who hatched the idea last fall.
“In today’s environment, artists are looking for creative new channels to reach fans, and we’re excited to help them with the launch of Inside the Outpost. We’re honored to bring a range of great performers to Outpost in the Burbs, and it’s inspiring to hear stories of their process, their inspiration and their activism; in addition, this is an opportunity to get these great live recordings out to listeners around the world.”
The podcast is mixed and edited by Craig Snyder; artwork is by Krista Schult.
Inside the Outpost is available on major podcast platforms: Apple, Spotify, Google Play, Stitcher, Radio Public, and Web Page.
