Volunteers Help Girls Experiencing Homelessness During United Way Day of Action

United Way of Northern New Jersey Women United volunteers partnered with The Garden Club of Montclair and Girl Scouts Heart of New Jersey troop leaders to help 30 young girls experiencing homelessness complete their Girl Scout outdoor art badges on June 22.

As part of United Way Day of Action, a nationwide day of service campaign, the women and some of their daughters helped the girls build fairy houses, create art projects, participate in garden scavenger hunts and take part in other activities at United Way’s Montclair building and the Avis Campbell Garden at 60 South Fullerton Ave.

The girls (not pictured) participate in Girl Scouts through the Juliette’s House program, which makes leadership experiences available at community shelters.
