Montclair High School “On Track” For At Least Two Fully Functional Stair Towers

Work on Montclair High School’s main building is underway.

Montclair Schools Superintendent Kendra Johnson, who said goodbye to the district last night at a special Montclair BOE meeting, sent an email to Montclair High School parents Friday with an update on the stair tower repair:

The purpose of this communication is to provide an update regarding the stair tower repair at Montclair High
School. We are on track to open the 2019-2020 school year with at least two, fully functional stair towers (#8 and
#11), which give staff and students access to all floors in the Main Building. The eight additional temporary
classrooms will remain in the Annex parking lot for six months to provide any instructional space needed. In
regards to the specific details of the stair tower repair, please note the following:

Moving forward, a Montclair Public School’s official will provide an update after the biweekly District meetings.
Accordingly, please expect additional updates on or before August 30, 2019. Thank you for your ongoing support
as we will continue to monitor the stair tower repair work to ensure our beloved Montclair High School is physically

ready to receive students, staff, parents/guardians and community for the 2019-2020 school year.
