When thinking about winery tours, Napa Valley and Sonoma immediately come to mind. But you don’t have to hop on a plane to enjoy a trip to a winery (or a weekend trip to a few wineries). Check out some of these East Coast wineries, in New York and New Jersey, some as close as a day trip and others perfect for a weekend getaway.
Where: 101 Layton Road, Wantage, NJ
Hours: Saturday and Sunday, 12:00 PM to 5:00 PM; private tastings are available.
Small batch, handcrafted wines are made in oak barrels with minimal chemical or mechanical intervention. They produce a variety of white and red wines.
Where: 85 Archertown Road, New Egypt, NJ

The winery hosts many events including Fire Pit Fridays, concerts, tours and tastings. There’s also a marketplace with food available for pairing. They have a wide variety of wines include reds and whites, as well as a chocolate wine and sangria.
Where: 269 Riegelsville Warren Glen Road, Village of Finesville, Milford, NJ
Hours: Daily 11:00 AM to 5:00 PM (6:00 PM on Saturday) for tastings; event times may differ.
The estate is 93 acres and located in the rolling hills of Warren County, with a focus on renewable viticulture and minimal impact. In addition to tastings, they host private events, weddings, and other activities. They offer many wines including reds, whites, dessert wines and others.
Four Sisters Winery
Where: 783 North Bridgeville Road, Belvidere, NJ
Hours: Open 6 days a week 10:00 AM to 6:00 PM. Closed Wednesdays. Schedule changes after November 22nd
Four Sisters Winery just celebrated its 35th anniversary. Their award-winning wines include red, white, rose and fruit wines. The winery hosts events throughout the year such as Murder Mystery Dinners, live music, and barefoot grape stomping. Fall Harvest Weekends begin in October and HallowWine Weekend will be October 28th and 29th.
Cream Ridge Winery
Where: 149 Route 539, Cream Ridge, NJ
Hours: Daily 10:00 AM to 5:00 PM; 6:00 on Saturdays
Cream Ridge’s wines are sold exclusively at the winery and local farmers markets, unlike other wineries. They offer a large selection whites, reds, and fruit wines, all handcrafted in small batches. Tastings are available daily. Check out the website calendar for upcoming events.
Terhune Orchards Vineyard & Winery
Where: 330 Cold Soil Road, Princeton, NJ
Hours: Friday, Saturday & Sunday from 12:00 PM to 6:00 PM
Offering a variety of grape and apple-based wines, the winery also hosts special events and wine trails. The tasting room is housed in a historic 150-year old barn. New York (Hudson Valley)
Warwick Valley Winery & Distillery
Where: 114 Little York Road, Warwick, NY
Hours: Monday – Friday from 11:00 AM to 6:00 PM; Saturday & Sunday from 11:30 to 5:00 PM
One of several wineries in the area, this winery spans 120 acres and boasts the first distiller in New York state to open after prohibition. They offer gourmet farm-to-table style cuisine, live music on a weekly basis, and apple picking. The website lists a full schedule of events.
Where: 82 Four Corners Road, Warwick, NY
Hours: Daily 11:00 AM -5:00 PM through October. Check website for new hours beginning in November
This winery boasts a number of limited-edition barrel-fermented reds and steel-aged whites, as well as fruit wines and hard cider. Live music is on site every weekend from 2:00 PM to 5:00 PM. Their Facebook page provides more event information.

The winery offers tastings every weekend in their winery or enjoying the beautiful views from the front porch. They also serve a variety of ciders, beers and ales from local establishments. Food is available and live music is performed every weekend from 2:00 PM to 5:00 PM.
Torne Valley Vineyards
Where: Torne Valley Roald, Hillburn, NY
Hours: Saturday and Sunday from 11:00 AM to 5:30 PM
The winery is located on a 19th century country estate in Rockland County. It features a Victorian mansion and views of the Ramapo River. They offer wine tastings, a small plate menu, and live music each weekend.

Hours: Sunday – Thursday from 11:00 AM to 5:00 PM; Friday 11:00 AM to 6:00 PM; Saturday 11:00 AM to 7:00 PM.
Brotherhood Winery was established in 1839. They offer tours and tastings daily; tour times are available on the website. Events and live music are hosted throughout the year and the winery is also available for corporate and private events.
Mountain View Vineyard
Where: 2332 Walters Road, Stroudsburg, PA
When: Daily from 11:00 AM to 6:00 PM
This vineyard situated in the Pocono Mountains offers wine, beer flights, and spirit tastings daily as well as a variety of special evets throughout the year. The Bistro at Mountain View Vineyard (closed Tuesdays and Wednesdays) features appetizers, pizzas, salads, and wraps, as well as Saturday Dinner.
Eagles Rest Cellars

Capra Collina Winery

Channing Daughters Winery

Tastings are held in a historic barn built in 1919 that once overlooked potato fields. Visitors can also view the owner’s contemporary art collection. Reservations are recommended for everyone and required for groups of six to 10 for tastings. Tours are offered daily by appointment.
Laurel Lake Vineyards
Where: 3165 Main Road, Laurel, NY
When: Monday – Friday from 11:00 AM to 5:00 PM. Saturday from 11:00 AM to 7:00 PM and Sunday 11:00 AM to 6:00 PM. Hours change effective November 1st; please check the website.
The vineyard is housed in a colonial-style building on the North Fork of Long Island. It features a two-story deck, an antique landmark bar, stained windows and a gift shop. Music, tours, and special events are regularly scheduled and featured on the website. The wines are made using minimal intervention and no filtration with an emphasis and respect for hand-crafted techniques.
Castello di Borghese Vineyard
Where: 17150 Route 48, Cutchogue, NY
When: Daily from 11:00 AM to 5:00 PM
Using an old-world style, Borghese Vineyard prunes, picks, bottles, corks, labels, and distributes every bottle of wine by hand. They are environmentally focused to protect the integrity of the ecosystem. The Founders Tour includes a tour of the vines, cellar, and barrel room and is followed by a tasting paired with artisanal cheeses and charcuterie.
The Seneca Lake Wine Trail features more than 30 wineries located in the heart of Finger Lakes Wine Country. By visiting the Seneca Lake Wine Trail website, you can map out and plan an excursion to see as many wineries as you’d like! The area is also home to many places to eat and stay. If you want to take a break between wineries, visit one of the beautiful hiking trails or state parks.

Located on the southeastern side of Seneca Lake, Chateau LaFayette Reneau offers more than a dozen varietals to suit every taste. Wine tastings are available and can be paired with treats from a local bakery or choose the cheese and wine pairing. On-site lodging is available.
Atwater Estate Vineyards
Where: 5055 New York 414, Burdett, NY
Hours: Monday – Saturday from 10:00 AM to 5:00 PM, Sunday from 11:00 AM to 5:00 PM.
This winery offers a variety of wines including blends, sparkling wines, and sweet wines. Thursdays to Sundays through Columbus Day weekend, enjoy after hours deck service from 5:00 PM until Sunset. It is located close to Watkins Glen State Park at the southern end of Lake Seneca.
Belhurst Estate Winery
Where: 4069 West Lake Road, Geneva, NY
Hours: Daily from 10:00 AM to 8:00 PM
In addition to the winery, the estate also hosts three hotels, two restaurants, craft beer, and a spa-salon. Visitors can choose a traditional tasting or opt for the six-course food and wine pairing dinner, with each course paired with a Belhurst wine.
