Montclair Crime: Robbery on Glenridge Ave.; Burglaries; Theft

The week in Montclair crime from Detective Sergeant Terence Turner, Montclair Police Department:

Robbery
August 29, 2019 (Glenridge Avenue): A victim reported that while walking east on Glenridge Avenue in the area of Baldwin Street, a white sedan with New Jersey plates pulled along side of him. A male suspect exited the front passenger seat and grabbed his rolling duffel bag before getting back in the car and fleeing east on Glenridge Avenue. The suspect was described as a black male, unknown age, with short black hair and a short black beard. He was last seen wearing a dark colored zip up shirt and blue jeans. There was no description of the driver. The duffel bag contained clothing and a laptop computer.

Burglary / Theft
August 31, 2019 (Orange Road): A wallet containing credit cards and $50.00 cash was removed from an unlocked motor vehicle parked in an Orange Road driveway.

September 1, 2019 (North Fullerton Avenue): A blue and orange large frame Giant Sedona DX Disc bicycle (valued at $510) was stolen from a residence on North Fullerton Avenue. The bicycle was reportedly locked to a fence at the time of the theft.

September 2, 2019 (Gates Avenue): A resident of Gates Avenue reported that her vehicle was entered sometime between Saturday 8/31/2019 and 9/2/2019. The vehicle was left unlocked. The center console and glove compartment were rummaged through. Missing at this time are phone cords and chargers.

September 2, 2019 (Willard Place): A 2000 Mercedes Benz E20 parked in the driveway was stolen during the overnight hours. The vehicle was unlocked and contained the keys. The vehicle was recovered several hours later, parked and unoccupied, in Newark.

September 2, 2019 (Willard Place): An unlocked motor vehicle was entered during the overnight hours. The vehicle was rummaged through but nothing was reported missing.

September 2, 2019 (Elmwood Avenue): An unlocked motor vehicle was entered during the overnight hours. The vehicle was rummaged through but nothing was reported missing.

September 2, 2019 (Glenridge Avenue): An unlocked Honda Civic parked in the rear of a Glenridge Avenue address was entered during the overnight hours. A ziplock bag containing loose change and dollar bills was removed.

  1. And still people keep on keeping their cars unlocked. Added bonus: leaving wallets KEYS!!! & valuables inside. Makes me laugh every time I read these reports.
