On September 19, 2019, Montclair Police received a report of a suspicious incident. A 13 year old female reported that she and an unidentified juvenile were outside the Montclair Public Library’s Bellevue Branch at approximately 3:30 PM when they spotted an adult male holding his cell phone as if he was recording them. The juveniles felt uncomfortable and walked to the CVS on Valley Road. While there, she observed the same male. The juveniles then left CVS and walked to the Starbucks on Valley Road. Shortly thereafter, the same male entered the Starbucks and continued to hold his cell phone as if he was recording.

The juvenile reports that an unidentified customer, concerned for the safety of the juveniles, intervened and told the male to put the cell phone down. The male then left the scene and a guardian of the juvenile, who had been contacted earlier by the juvenile, arrived.

The suspect is described as a white male, 56-60 years old,160-180 lbs., 5’8” tall with white hair and a white beard. He was last seen wearing a dark colored shirt, dark colored hat, sunglasses, and carrying a green shoulder bag and a red phone case.
