Bloomfield residents, community groups and local businesses came together on Saturday to participate in a town-wide cleanup. This inaugural cleanup day brought about 100 residents to more than 20 areas of their choosing across the town. It was organized by the Bloomfield Beautification Committee with support from the Bloomfield Division of Public Safety and Township of Bloomfield Public Works and Parks Maintenance.
“It is wonderful for our community to come together for a positive purpose that benefits everyone,” said Mayor Michael Venezia. “I was really thrilled and humbled to see such a large turnout at this event and eager to see it increase for our future township beautification projects.”
Participating residents spent the morning picking up debris in places like the Staples Bloomfield Plaza, 16th Street, Bloomfield Avenue, Oakview School, Fairview School, the Stay Strong mural on Broad Street and Watsessing Park, with help from the Watsessing Park Conservancy.
“Our residents interact with our town everyday,” said Councilwoman Jenny Mundell. “They know which locations in Bloomfield need the most care. Thanks to their advice and activism, we made great progress this weekend in cleaning up Bloomfield.”
