Montclair Crime: Pedestrian Struck Sunday On Bloomfield Ave; Driver Charged With DWI

Police responded to the 400 block of Bloomfield Avenue Sunday on a report of a pedestrian struck by a motor vehicle. The victim, a 55-year-old female Montclair resident, was transported to a local hospital. The vehicle’s operator, a 40-year-old Bloomfield man, was charged with driving while intoxicated.

Thefts
September 26, 2019 (Claremont Avenue): The complainant reports that his blue Pinarello bicycle (valued at $6,000) and his dark red Specialized Stump Jumper SFR bicycle (valued at $2500) were stolen from a storage locker.

September 26, 2019 (Elizabeth Road): the complainant reports that a defibrillator, valued at $1700, and $125 in soccer equipment was stolen from his Toyota Prius, which may have been left unlocked prior to the theft.

September 28, 2019 (Cottage Place): The complainant reports that his Air Pod headphones, valued at $150, were stolen from his bag while he was at a basketball game at the Immaculate Conception high school.

September 28, 2019 (Park Street): The complainant reports that her black Specialized Ariel Hydro Disc bicycle, valued at $500, was stolen from the bike rack outside of the George Inness Annex building. The bicycle had been locked prior to the theft.

September 29, 2019 (South Fullerton Avenue): the complainant reports that her iPhone, valued at $700, was stolen when she left it momentarily unattended at the library.

September 30, 2019 (Valley Road): The complainant reports that a decorative bollard cover, valued at $200, was stolen from the Quick Chek parking lot on Valley Road. A bollard post is a metal post designed to prevent vehicles from driving over a curb. A suspect is described as a black male, tall, athletic build, late teens, with an earring in his left ear. He was last see wearing royal blue shirt, possibly with the word “Swoosh” on the front, white or tan shorts, white socks and sneakers, and a black bandana on his head.

Vandalism
September 25, 2019 (Dodd Street): The complainant reports that a window to his single family house was damaged, with a single BB pellet found on the sill between the window and the screen. The damage is reported at $500.

Fire
September 25, 2019 (Upper Mountain Avenue): Police and fire personnel responded to a residence on a report of a fire at a two-story residence. Upon arrival, it was discovered that the fire was located on the back porch. The fire was extinguished and the incident was deemed not suspicious, with a possible cause being a candle left unattended.

Arrests
September 24, 2019 (Bloomfield Avenue/ South Fullerton Avenue): A 31-year-old Morristown man was charged with driving while intoxicated.

September 27, 2019 (Upper Mountain Avenue/ Bradford Avenue): A 22-year-old Clifton man was charged with driving while intoxicated.

  1. Was this pedestrian accident at 6 corners? That area is a GD death trap. Even though all of Bloomfield Avenue is pretty much cross at your own risk, I hope this traffic study focuses INTENTLY on this intersection. Has to be the worst traffic pattern I have ever seen in my life.
