When did you move there? I moved to Montclair 15 years ago.

Where did you grow up? I grew up everywhere; I’ve been traveling since I was 17. I grew up in West Africa, Ouagadougou, Burkina.

How do you make a living? OR What is your everyday passion? I own the Montclair Brewery, and I am passionate about beer. My mom taught me everything I know about beer, including how to brew. I also have a passion for radio. I worked in radio for 20 years in Burkina and in Canada.

Coffee, tea or … ? Coffee with milk and three sugars. Not too sweet.

What’s your idea of a perfect weekend day? It would be a day fishing on a pier. It gives you peace of mind and time to think and reflect on what’s ahead.

What’s your favorite local restaurant? I love everything at Le French Dad. The baguette is my favorite.

What’s on your nightstand? Paulo Coelho’s The Alchemist. I read it often.

What are you listening to? I listen to a lot of African music in general. A lot of Afro-beat and Reggae. When I’m by myself in the Brewery, I listen to Al Di Meola and Bob Marley.

What are your current indulgences? I eat a lot of nuts. I have almonds in my car, on my desk, everywhere.

What talent you would most like to have? I wish I had time to play guitar.

What’s the worst-kept (or best-kept!) secret about Montclair? Montclair is like a different country. It’s a country unto itself. It reflects where I grew up; everybody knows each other. That’s the best-kept secret.

What do you hope they say about you at your funeral? Who cares? I’m dead anyway.
