Montclair Public Library Adds Premium Online Resource for Grantseekers

Calling all grantseekers, nonprofits, and scholarship applicants! MPL is now part of Candid’s Funding Information Network. Through MPL you now have access to Candid’s grants research databases: Foundation Directory Online (formerly Foundation Center) and Grants to Individuals. These databases offer the most up-to-date, complete information you can get about grantmakers and the grants they’ve made.

In Candid’s words, FDO “delivers quality funding prospects. By combining exhaustive data with intuitive search functionality and informative data visualizations, FDO delivers the information you need to reach your fundraising goals quickly and efficiently.”

Grants to Individuals (GTI) includes 10,000 grantmaker profiles with details on funders that provide scholarships, fellowships, grants, and financial support to students and other individuals.

These databases provide a wealth of information that is useful during the grantseeking process. By looking at past grants data, grantseekers can identify potential funders that are a match for the kind of work the grantseeker is doing. In addition to data on individual grants, the databases include funder profiles with up-to-date information on board members, application processes, and funding interests.

“We are excited to offer this resource to our users,” said Peter Coyl, Library Director. “With so many people and non-profits doing good works in our town, we hope these tools can help them continue to do good and help Montclair.”

Both resources are available for in-library (Main Library) use only, through either the public internet computers or on a personal device connected to the Library’s WiFi. All that a user has to do is navigate to either website while in the Main Library to access the databases; users do not need to present a library card or sign in.
