Bloomfield Fire Chief Says Investigation of Tuesday’s Fire Ruled Out Foul Play

BLOOMFIELD, NJ — Bloomfield Fire Department Chief Louis Venezia has issued the following statement regarding the fire which broke out at 55 Washington St. on Tuesday morning:

“While the cause of the fire is still under investigation, it appears there was no foul play. The Bloomfield Fire Investigation Unit is working closely with the New Jersey Division of Fire Safety Investigators. A New Jersey Division of Fire Safety Arson K9 Unit was brought in to aide in the investigation. The results of the K9 were negative. We will continue our investigation to the cause of the fire and provide updates as soon as they are available.”

Several businesses — Roxy Florist, Heavenly Bites, Heavenly Flavors and Kolby’s Place Barber Shop — were affected by the fire. A GoFundMe has been started for these businesses.
