Montclair High School’s George Inness Annex is having issues with its ceiling after a leak this weekend.
Dear MHS Parents/Guardians & Students,
Over the weekend, a water leak presented itself in rooms 610 and 612 in the George Inness Annex causing part of the ceiling to fall. This was identified early this morning before students entered the building and Building and Grounds were contacted to assess the situation. At the present time, the Buildings and Grounds Department is in the process of identifying the root cause and performing cleanup. When more information is provided, we will communicate it with the community. In the meantime, all classes in rooms 610 and 612 have been redirected to other classrooms until the issue is identified and repaired.

On Thursday, Principal Grosso sent this message about a staircase issue in the same building:
Dear MHS community,
Today one of the stairs in George Inness (Stairwell 4) was identified by an MHS staff member as having a detachment of the concrete nosing (front edge of the stair) of an individual stair. District administration from Buildings and Grounds and the Business Office will be on site to assess the area before school starts tomorrow morning. District architects and the Montclair Fire Department have been contacted to review and provide the next steps moving forward. The Montclair Police Department, Head of MHS Security, District and MHS administration will collaborate in the morning, before school, to provide rerouting of egress patterns in the event of an evacuation. We will provide an update from the architect as information is provided to District and MHS administration. Moving forward, Stairwell 4 will not be accessible until further notice. Please contact me at 973-509-4069 if you have any further questions.
