Montclair Bounce Returns With Warm-Up Winter/Spring Events Before 2nd Annual Festival

MONTCLAIR Bounce: A Festival of Optimism and Resilience announces its 2020 festival will take place May 29-June 5. In addition, this year MONTCLAIR Bounce will host events in February and March highlighting its themes of community and mental health.

MONTCLAIR Bounce’s inaugural eight-day festival in 2019 launched with a variety of town-wide all-ages events. Programming was designed to offer residents opportunities to playfully explore everyday practices and local resources to strengthen spirits through life’s ups and downs. The Festival’s 78 arts, education and recreation events attracted 7,000 participants and collaborative partnerships with more than 100 organizations and businesses.

Elly Meeks, Bounce Co-Director, notes that “We were delighted with the launch, gratified by Montclair’s embrace of Bounce and truly optimistic about plans to extend the Festival’s potential to connect our community in 2020.” Anne Mernin, Bounce Co-Director and Executive Director of Toni’s Kitchen adds, “We all have tough moments and BOUNCE aims to help us put together our own resilience-building tool kits to work through them.”

This year, prior to the May-June Festival week, MONTCLAIR Bounce is offering two “warm–up events” in February and March. The first is Heart Full of Bounce, a Valentine’s event in partnership with Elemental Interiors and Rose Brand, on February 9th, 1:30 – 3:30 at St. Luke’s Church, 73 South Fullerton Avenue, Montclair.

All are invited to come make valentines or thank you notes to those in our lives — family, friends, crossing guards, baristas, bank tellers or anyone who makes our days brighter. The event is free with registration requested at montclairbounce.org.

On March 11, MONTCLAIR Bounce will present Tales Of Selfish Helpers, An Evening of Inspiring Stories told by volunteers dramatically vouching for the rewards of altruism. The event will take place March 11, 7:30pm – 9:00 pm. at Paper Plane Coffee Co. at 194 Claremont Avenue. The event is free with registration requested at montclairbounce.org.

MONTCLAIR Bounce reflects mental health research on ways we can boost our moods and bolster our resilience. The Festival is a project of Toni’s Kitchen,

MONTCLAIR Bounce invites community members, organizations and businesses to propose events they would like to present at the Festival by May 1, 2020. Guidelines and submission details can be found at montclairbounce.org.
