When did you move there? We moved from the Bronx, NY in 2015
Where did you grow up? I was born in Manhattan while my parents were grad students at Columbia University, but I grew up in Fairfax, Virginia!…before moving back to the city as a newlywed in 2002.
How do you make a living? OR What is your everyday passion?
I used to be a musical theatre actress, and I enjoyed years of successful travels and adventures in the biz…but once my second…then third child was born, it was no longer the lifestyle for me. I began working for amazing home stagers in Maplewood, NJ then started my DREAM Interior Design Biz, beam&bloom interiors, 2.5 years ago. I still love love love to SING!…so you might hear it from time to time on Instagram.
Coffee, tea or … ? Iced coffee all year long! I drink it sloooooow and make it a treat.
What’s your idea of a perfect weekend day? Sleeping in, making family brunch or visiting a fave Montclair spot, spending time outdoors together…and then stealing away for some quiet time and maybe a romantic dinner with my love!
What’s your favorite local restaurant? Sooooo many! Turtle & the Wolf for a date night, Ani Ramen for lunch, Le Salbuen & The Corner for breakfast, brunch & lunch! I could literally go on and on. Montclair is a dreamy dining destination.
What’s on your nightstand? Ha! I have a tiny little floating shelf. Earplugs, my phone charger and a hair tie. I have a wall mounted library sconce for ambient light! So important.
What are you listening to?
My go-to is old club style jazz…Billie Holiday, Ella Fitzgerald, Louis Armstrong & French cafe singers …or music by Martin Sexton …or bluegrass like Nickel Creek. Pop music in the car!
What are your current indulgences?
Dark chocolate, The New Girl & quality skin care! I’ve learned about face oils and the ancient Chinese art of gua sha (facial massage with jade or quartz stones).
What talent you would most like to have?
I wish I was an amazing dancer!!!! …a legit, flexible, fierce, strong, expressive powerful dancer.
What’s the worst-kept (or best-kept!) secret about Montclair (or your town)?
The stunning NYC city views from various high points and the hiking trail at Eagle Rock Reservation are treasures to locals and a surprise for newbies. Speaking of eagles…I actually saw two bald eagles flying overhead when I was stepping out of Marcel on a Valley Road a few weeks ago! It was magical for me. I love wildlife.
What do you hope they say about you at your funeral?
She was loved, loving & dedicated to sharing joy.
