Help Feed Our Healthcare Heroes: Almost 3000 Mountainside Meals And Counting

We told you about Help Feed Our Healthcare Heroes. Here’s an update from the organizers on their progress:

As of Sunday, April 19, the generosity of more than 350 donors has translated into almost 3,300 meals for the healthcare heroes at Mountainside Hospital. Visit the Help Feed Our Healthcare Heroes page on GoFundMe for more details and photos, and for shout-outs to the growing list of local restaurants and delis who are partnering in this effort.

The amazing doctors, nurses, techs, maintenance, security and other staff at Mountainside are going to unbelievable lengths to save lives and help our community get through this pandemic. They need us to stay home. And they also need food.

We have increased our fundraising goal to try to keep pace with the continuing need, and the funds we have raised so far are inspiring. But these funds will barely last into mid-May – and we know the need won’t stop then.

So, we again ask for your help. Please consider making an additional donation if you can. And please spread the word by sharing this link far and wide.

If you would like to help feed the staff at Mountainside Hospital, the best thing you can do is donate to this fund. We work very closely with the hospital to organize and schedule meals across teams, shifts and departments.

Many generous individuals have also paid privately for additional meals, and some organizations want to support this effort but can’t donate to a GoFundMe. We have gratefully helped to organize and schedule those donations as well.

An important note: If you have food to offer, please don’t just schedule, send or show up with it – contact us first at MountainsideMeals@gmail.com so we can build your generosity into the hospital’s schedule. There are strict restrictions on what the hospital can and can’t accept, and the last thing anyone wants is for food to go to waste.

May you and your loved ones stay safe and well.
