School of Rock Montclair to Reopen with Comprehensive Safety Guidelines for Students, Summer Campers

On Monday, June 15, School of Rock Montclair will reopen to resume music lessons and Performance Program rehearsals for its enrolled students. The reopening will be the first part of a three stage process that will also include safety guidelines for participants in the School’s summer camp programs.

“The health and well-being of our staff, faculty, students, and campers is the top priority for our reopening,” says Kevin March, General Manager of School of Rock Montclair. “We’ve designed a plan that not only aims to keep everyone safe, it also assures that our students and campers will enjoy an excellent music education experience, be able to connect with new friends, and have lots of fun.”

The three phases of SoR Montclair’s reopening are as follows:

Stage One (6/15)

SoR’s faculty will return to provide remote one-on-one lessons for students from the School’s lesson rooms.

Masks and social distancing will be mandatory for all faculty and staff.

The School’s remote music lessons are enhanced by its proprietary Method App, which is a home practice tool that students can download to their electronic devices. The Method App is used by the faculty to assign exercises and provide feedback and comments. Students can also use the Method App to manipulate playback, tempo, and backing tracks of over 1,000 popular rock, pop, soul, reggae, and metal songs.

Stage Two (6/22)

On-premises private instruction, which will include the installation of clear plastic dividers in all lesson rooms, will be available for students who are comfortable with returning to the School.

Remote lessons will still be available for students who are not comfortable with returning to the School.

Masks and social distancing will be mandatory for everyone entering the School.

The School’s lobby will be closed to anyone who is not a student, staffer, or faculty member.

Stage Three (7/6)

On-premises summer camps will begin at the School, with limited numbers of campers in each camp.

Remote participation in the camps will be available.

On-premises Performance Program rehearsals will resume.

The SoR Rookies class, the Musical Theatre camp, and the Rock 101 camp will be available remotely.

Masks and social distancing will be mandatory for everyone entering the School.

The School’s lobby will be closed to anyone who is not a student, camper, staffer, or faculty member.
