Montclair, New Jersey – Politically active moms in Montclair and across the U.S. who reject President Trump’s messages and policies are banding together to deny him a second term.
Suburban Moms Against Re-electing Trump (S.M.A.R.T.) is a national grass roots campaign to “organize and activate suburban moms and the supporters to counter Trump’s racist, sexist and divisive policies and campaign messaging.”
“Montclair is an ideal place to march and kick-off our campaign of countering Trump’s portrayal of suburban women. We’re a diverse group who don’t buy into the message of fear,” said Debra Simon, S.M.A.R.T. Advisory Board Member. “We hope to use this campaign to inspire other S.M.A.R.T. groups across the country to actively organize in their own communities and towns between now and the election.”
On Thursday, S.M.A.R.T. announced the launch of S.M.A.R.T. Voter U.S.A., a digital campaign focused on supporting new and existing organizations with their efforts to help defeat Trump.
The S.M.A.R.T. Voter campaign will roll out across all social media platforms (Facebook: S.M.A.R.T. Voter USA; Instagram: @smartvoterusa; Twitter: @smartvoterusa), and the website (www.smartvoterusa.org) will be launched shortly. The coalition’s first live local activation will kick-off in Montclair with the S.M.A.R.T. march on Saturday, September 26. Preparations are currently underway.
SMART is hoping the Montclair march on September 26 will inspire a day of marches in suburbs across the country where small groups of people gather to reject Trump in a suburban mom led, suburban-based national action.
