Salvation Army Commanding Officer Walking 26 Miles Throughout Montclair Saturday To Raise Awareness For Those In Need

Major Brett DeMichael, Commanding Officer from the Salvation Army New Jersey Division/Montclair Corps, will be walking 26 miles throughout Montclair on Saturday, August 8th starting at 8:00 AM.

DeMichael is doing the marathon to raise awareness and resources for The Salvation Army Montclair Citadel, specifically for the vulnerable homeless and hungry people in the community, especially due to the devastating effects of the coronavirus pandemic.

He will begin and end his walk at the Montclair Citadel at 13 Trinity Place in Montclair. His route will consist of an eight-plus mile loop that will be done three times including part of Bloomfield Avenue down to Lackawanna Plaza and straight through downtown. He will also pass the hospital, go through the western edge of Brookdale Park, pass by Mountainside Park, the Presby Iris Gardens, and Van Vleck House and Gardens on Upper Mountain Avenue.

Donations are appreciated via the Montclair Corps’ Facebook page.
