Another week has come and gone, and the weekend is here again! We’ve rounded up some fun and family-friendly activities to enjoy. Check ‘em out!
How about a little friendly competition? The Job Carr Cabin Museum in Tacoma, WA, is hosting a Summer 2020 Coloring Contest for kids 12 and under. Visit the website to download the coloring sheet and instructions. Entries must be submitted by September 5, 2020.
DC FanDome, an immersive, virtual fan experience, is happening on
Saturday beginning at 1:00 PM EDT (this event has been moved to September 12). This 24-hour event will feature announcements, exclusive footage, and other entertainment. The DC Comics blog has more information about the event. A separate DC KidsVerse can be accessed at DCKidsFanDome.com and will entertain kids with a broad range of family-friendly activations for younger fans.
Here’s another creative way to use a balloon and bubble. Using an old pen with a balloon secured to the end, create a bubble shooter toy. This can be fun on its own, but some educational elements can be built in. Try practicing letters, numbers, or short spelling words. You could also discuss the science behind bubbles.
This super cute bird feeder craft is great for the older kids to work on alone. Little ones will likely need help because of the need for a glue gun, but that shouldn’t take away any of the fun. The design is easy enough and, once it’s completed and hung, it will make for some excellent bird watching!
Looking for a game the whole family can play outside? Try DIY Kerplunk! Tomato cages, ball pit balls, and PVC pipe come together to form this classic game. The object of the game is to pull the PVC pipes out of the cages without letting any balls drop. Sounds easy, but it’s not!
