Montclair High School alum James Feinberg, who graduated Phi Beta Kappa from Brown University in May, has embarked on a new project — James Feinberg Teaches – film and theater classes via Zoom, aimed at high school and college students, or other adults interested in learning more.
Feinberg is starting with four courses: Broadway: A History of the American Musical; Film Comedy in the Pre-War Era; Sondheim; and The Bus That Couldn’t Slow Down: Die Hard And Its Antecedents. Classes will start late September and run for eight to 12 weeks, with two sessions each week.
Feinberg is a musical theater and film aficionado, and a librettist and lyricist of musical theater including The Oldenburg Suite, which was produced at the New York Musical Festival (where it won Best Concert) and at the Montclair Theater Project. Feinberg is also a film and theater critic for the Broadway Journal and other publications.
