Friends of Anderson Park is inviting Montclair students to enter its third annual short-story contest. Winners receive $75, and (if the pandemic abates) a reception and reading at Watchung Booksellers. In previous years, the winners’ stories have also been published in the newspaper.
Students in sixth, seventh and eighth grades at all Montclair schools – public, private, or home-schooled – are eligible.
These are the requirements: Anderson Park must feature into the story. Stories may be in any genre, 500-2,500 words, and must observe the same guidelines in subject matter and language that would apply in school. Entries should be typed and double-spaced, with numbered pages. The author’s name, grade, school, phone number and email should be on every page. Deadline for submission is midnight on Feb. 13, 2021. Submit via email to firstname.lastname@example.org. You should receive email confirmation of receipt within a day or two.
Address any queries to email@example.com or Ann Evans at (973) 495-0338. Information about the park is at www.FriendsofAndersonPark.com.
