The Gift of No Cooking: Order Your Christmas Dinner To Go

It’s a year unlike any other. Whether you’re used to hosting a large dinner or heading out to enjoy someone else’s culinary delights, this year is probably going to look different. Ordering dinner for your family can not only start a new holiday tradition, but it can also help support area restaurants. These local favorites are offering up take-home dinners that can keep your Christmas table merry and bright!

Montclair Diner (613 Valley Road, Upper Montclair) is offering three different festive Christmas menus – Taste of Italy, $115; Magical Meat Feast, $125; Ultimate Seafood Feast, $150. Each package serves four; Christmas Dinner orders must be made by December 20. 973-746-0911.

Faubourg Montclair (544 Bloomfield Avenue, Montclair) – Faubourg’s At Home for the Holidays special menu is available through January 4 to take out. There are a variety of appetizers, main courses, and sides available. Most serve 4 people. They are also offering a Holiday Menu Bundle that serves 4 for $225. This bundle includes assorted dips and crudites with lavash, lobster bisque, bibb salad, beef wellington, and truffle mashed potatoes. Orders are accepted by phone until 4:00 PM for the same day. Pick up starts at 5:00 PM.

Ariane Kitchen & Bar (706 Bloomfield Avenue, Verona) – Choose from a large selection of Christmas Eve Carry Outs which includes an eclectic mix of appetizers, side dishes, desserts, and platters. Place your order by email or phone for pick up on December 24 between 12:00 PM and 2:00 PM.

Tia’s Food of Love (638 Bloomfield Avenue, Verona) – In addition to a large Holiday Menu featuring hors d’oeuvres, antipasti, main dishes, side dishes, breakfast selections, salads, and desserts, you can also opt for the Holiday Dinner Package which feeds 4-6 people for $279. You’ll have your choice of two appetizers, a first course, an entrée course, three side dishes, and a dessert. Orders must be placed by December 17 for both the menu and the package.

DeNova European Pub (275 Bellevue Avenue, Montclair) – You’ll have your choice of two Holiday Packages this year. The first is a 5 Course Dinner for 4 for $160. It includes your choice of soup, salad, pasta for the first three courses. The main course is an option of a whole roasted chicken or an orange-mezcal salmon whole fillet. Choose a pie for dessert as well. The second package is also a 5 Course Dinner for 4 at $180. You’ll again have your choice of soup, salad, and pasta for courses one through three. The fourth course features spiced honey glazed pork belly or roast beef or lemon garlic rosemary whole wild caught Branzino. This package also includes a pie for dessert. Place your order by December 20.

Laboratorio Kitchen (516 Bloomfield Avenue, Montclair) – Pick up some of your Laboratorio favorites for either Christmas Eve or Christmas Day. Choose from a variety of half trays including meatballs, shrimp, sausage, rigatoni, chicken, or salmon, several sides, and a main dish of either Classic French Chateaubriand ($165) or Duroc Christmas Ham ($115). Prices for half trays vary. Each dish serves 3-5 people. Call to reserve your pickup time.

Turtle + The Wolf (622 Valley Road, Upper Montclair) – A Holiday Menu is available for curbside pick-up on December 22 and 23. All items are a la carte and do not include sides. Selections include fried chicken, turkey, spiral ham, ham shank, beef brisket, duck confit pot pie, or lasagna. Sides and desserts are available as well. Fresco Da Franco (15 Church Street, Montclair) – In addition to their regular menu, Fresco Da Franco will be offering a traditional Feast of the Seven Fishes menu on Christmas Eve and Christmas Day. Selections include Linguine Con Vongole, Baccala Salad, Pesce al Fresco, Branzino Livornese, Calamari Fritta, Zuppa Di Mussels, and Grilled Pulpo.

Salute: A Brick Oven Bistro (173 Glenridge Avenue, Montclair) – Choose from two Family Dinner options that serve 8-10 people each. Dinner 1 is a half roasted prime rib ($46 per person) and Dinner 2 is a whole rack loin of pork ($38 per person). Both packages come with choice of sides. Full and half trays of appetizers, pastas, sides, dinners, and seafood are also available.

Fitzgerald’s 1928 (13 Herman Street, Glen Ridge) – Two Christmas dinner package options are available; each serves 6-8 and comes with choice of four sides. The Prime Rib Roast dinner is $225, and the Jack Daniels Glazed Spiral Ham is $175. Order by December 18.


Custodi Caterers (551 Franklin Avenue, Nutley) – Custodi Caterers will offer a large selection of a la carte options including appetizers, cold dishes, pastas, meats, seafoods, and sides to create your perfect holiday meal. Three sizes are available for most options and prices vary. Orders for Christmas and New Years must be placed by December 18.


The Barrow House (1296 Van Houten Avenue, Clifton) and Cowan’s Public House (229 Centre Street, Nutley) – Both restaurants are offering Christmas Catering Packages through Skopos Hospitality Group for pick up on December 23 or 24. Each includes a sourdough baguette, seasonal salad, whipped Yukon Gold potatoes, beer-braised Brussels sprouts, roasted mushrooms, and Panettone bread pudding. Choose from the Roasted Ham for 2-4 people ($95) or 4-6 people ($190) or Boneless Beef Short Ribs for 2-4 ($125) or 4-6 ($250). There are also wine packages you can purchase to go with your meal.


Just Jake’s (30 Park Street, Montclair) is offering an à la carte Christmas menu; order by noon on December 21.


Cloverleaf Tavern (395 Bloomfield Ave., Caldwell) has a full Christmas Dinner menu of mains, sides and more to create your own Christmas feast. Order by Sunday, December 20 at noon.
