Kids have done lots of things over the years in anticipation of a snow day — from wearing pajamas backward to checking the predictions on the Snow Day Calculator. For many kids, there’s nothing more magical during the doldrums of winter than getting the call, even when it comes at 5 a.m. in the morning.
Big snow is predicted to slam our area according to the National Weather Service between tonight and Tuesday and some New Jersey schools, including Glen Ridge, Millburn and North Caldwell, are giving students and staff a true snow day Monday, but Montclair and Bloomfield have both opted for remote learning instead, even with concerns about power outages. New York City school students will also be attending school remotely on Monday.
The argument for keeping kids in remote school on a snow day is concern over how much learning has been lost since schools had to shift to remote learning in March 2020.
