Montclair Police Community Outreach Efforts Support Vulnerable Populations

Montclair Police Department has stepped up its community outreach efforts by partnering with community organizations to better serve vulnerable populations in the community.

Chief Todd Conforti accompanied by Deputy Chief Wilhelm Young, Lieutenant Tyrone Williams, and Patrolman Garth Guthrie with community partners including Toni’s Kitchen and Mental Health Association of Essex/Morris have provided needed food, clothing, and appliances.

Officer Guthrie serves as the Liaison Officer for Montclair Police Department’s Community Outreach to the Homeless, Mentally/Emotionally Challenged, and Senior Populations. In collaboration with community partners, Montclair Police Department has been able to make a meaningful difference in the lives of vulnerable citizens in the community, says Lieutenant Williams.

Through these partnerships, Montclair Police Department has been able to assist with food (almost daily); connecting residents to mental health resources (counseling, housing assistance); as well as securing clothing, sleeping bags, blankets, and a refrigerator to a citizen who previously had been homeless (Home Depot partnered to provide the appliance).
