MONTCLAIR, NJ – Montclair Film, in partnership with The Nature Conservancy of New Jersey, will present a special live conversation with author Jim Wright and TNC Caribbean Deputy Director Marci Eggers on Wednesday, March 31th at 1:00 pm, hosted on Zoom. This event is free and open to the public, but requires registration by visiting montclairfilm.org.
Ian Fleming, creator of the James Bond novels that inspired over six decades of films, borrowed the name of his super-spy from the author of his favorite book about Caribbean birds. He would later write, “Whatever happened to him actually outshines anything I’ve had my James Bond do.” The free webinar will trace the larger-than-life and times of the world’s most fascinating ornithologist, James Bond, and present visual and anecdotal references to occasions when fact overlapped with fiction between the two characters.
Jim Wright, TNC council member in New Jersey and author of The Real James Bond, will delve into how birdman Bond’s landmark book, Birds of the West Indies, upended his life and forever linked him to the most iconic spy in the Western world. Jim will be joined by Marci Eggers, Deputy Director of the Nature Conservancy’s Caribbean Program, for further discussion about the conservation of iconic island habitats that served as backdrops for DR. NO, THUNDERBALL, CASINO ROYALE and other Fleming films.
