League of Women Voters Montclair Area Presents ‘Global Warming: What Can We Do?’

Are you concerned about climate change and what environmental legacy we are passing on to our children? Let’s look at some of the ways our lifestyle contributes to carbon emissions and climate change.

Do you know…

The average home generates twice as much carbon as the average car?

Household electronics, even when turned off but still plugged in, can add 20% to your utility bill?

If we all switched to LED light bulbs, we’d reduce greenhouse gasses equal to 8 million cars?

Stopping junk mail could cut greenhouse gasses by 114 billion pounds?

The LWV Environmental Committee will present a slide show they developed on 20 common and easy things you can do to fight climate change without impinging on your current lifestyle. Simple changes in our individual routines can collectively reduce our community’s carbon footprint. If we all pitch in, we can make a difference.
