MAAHF To Honor Grand Marshals and Ambassador In Car Caravan on June 5

Montclair, NJ – Montclair African-American Heritage Foundation (MAAHF) has found a creative way to honor their 2020-2021 Grand Marshals and Ambassador after the cancellation of the 2020 & 2021 Montclair African-American Heritage Foundation Parade & Festival due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

MAAHF plans to celebrate the honorees — 2020-2021 Grand Marshals, Myrna Hinton and Margaret Stewart as well as Ambassador, Charles A. Brady — in a first ever Car Caravan!

Kicking off at 10 a.m. on Saturday, June 5h, the parade will start at Glenfield Park on Maple and will pass along the following streets: Maple Avenue, Pine Street, Walnut Street, Central Avenue, James Street, Valley Road, Bloomfield Avenue, Elm Street, Lincoln Street, Willowdale Avenue, and Washington Avenue, ending on Orange Road.

MAAHF encourages all to come out along the caravan route and cheer on the honorees and celebrate Montclair’s African-American history and culture. At the conclusion of the caravan, MAAHF will join in the community celebration for longtime leader, business owner and former MAAHF Grand Marshal, Mr. Celess Young at Young’s World of Beauty located at 307 Orange Road.

With over 30 years of hosting a parade & festival, MAAHF takes pride in empowering students to pursue greatness, supporting local black-owned businesses, and giving black culture a place to thrive in the Montclair community.
