The Newark Museum of Art invites you to a Community Night: Block Party on Saturday, October 9 from 6-9 pm!
Celebrate the unveiling of a spectacular light installation, Three Half Lozenges, as part of the Newark Arts Festival 2021, with remarks by the California-based artist Phillip K. Smith III.
Dance to the beats of DJ Shell Spin, as you experience a night of pure fluorescent fun! Goods by Fern & Fossil, Urban Glo, and NMOA Shop. Food by the delicious Walla Burger! Live glass blowing demonstrations from Glassroots. Take in a fashion show by Marco Hall.

Phillip K. Smith III is recognized internationally for his large-scale installations that live at the intersection of architecture and light. This site-specific commission packs a lot of impact without interference to the Museum’s façade, illuminating the museum’s Washington Street entrance every night with a brilliant sequence of changing colors. In order to maintain the original appearance of the 1925 facade, this long-term installation is only visible at night.
Community Days are presented by Horizon Foundation for New Jersey.
