AAPI Montclair Celebrates Diwali and Lights Up Montclair!

Montclair was never more vibrant than Saturday when Light Up Montclair, a one-of-a-kind Diwali festival brought a rainbow of colors to the grounds of the Montclair Art Museum, with more than a thousand participants enjoying music, dancing, food, fun and community. These photos, all by Armando “OUTthere” Diaz, capture the magic and beauty of the celebration.

Diwali, known as the festival of lights, symbolizes the victory of light over darkness.

The Montclair festival was organized by AAPI Montclair partnered with Montclair Art Museum to celebrate Light Up Montclair, Montclair’s first Diwali celebration. AAPI is a grassroots organization of more than 450 Asian Americans and Pacific Islanders in the Montclair area, formed to create action and better representation. Earlier this year, AAPI Montclair held its Lantern Festival For Justice and Remembrance.
