Name: Keith Franco
Where do you live? Montclair – Frog Hollow Section
When did you move there? 2019
Where did you grow up? Nutley
How do you make a living? OR What is your everyday passion?
I’m the co-founder of Format C:yber, a cybersecurity consulting firm that helps organizations develop and mature their information security practices, and fend off hackers, malware, and other internet evils. It’s definitely not as cool as Mr. Robot, but it is interesting.
My passion is boxing; training, watching it, and going to fights, reading books and blogs about it, etc.
Coffee, tea, or … ? I love both. For coffee, it’s gotta be dark roasts; Italian, French, Sumatran, etc. For tea, I enjoy roobois and white teas.
Get up early, go for a walk and/or get in some padwork (boxing), then head out for a random road trip (beach, mountains, or just the middle of nowhere) and stop for a good, long breakfast along the way. Spend the day exploring, and wrap it up with a nice dinner, some drinks, and hopefully catch some boxing or live music later that night.
What’s your favorite local restaurant? Faubourg, and I recently discovered Sweet T’s.
What’s on your nightstand? Several books – Sapiens, The Wire and Philosophy, and Nudge are currently in rotation.
What are you listening to? As always, it’s all over the map – The Sisters of Mercy, Vybz Kartel, Camp Lo, KMFDM, The Crystal Method
What are your current indulgences? Ice cream (Turkey Hill – Double Dunker), maybe a little B&B liqueur or dark rum, neat.
What talent would you most like to have? To be able to play bass guitar
What’s the worst-kept (or best-kept!) secret about Montclair? They Wellmont! It’s the perfect size for live music, and the ambiance is every bit as good as the venues in NYC, like Irving Plaza.
What do you hope they say about you at your funeral? He tried to find the best in those he knew and encourage them to be more of that.
