Montclair Domestic Violence Awareness Group S.O.F.I.A. Welcomes Two New Board Members

Executive Director Cynthia Walker and Board President Tamisa Covington of Montclair’s Start Out Fresh Intervention Advocates (S.O.F.I.A.) are pleased to announce that Gretchen Sheffield and Jean Warsager, both of Montclair, will be joining the S.O.F.I.A. Board, effective immediately.

Gretchen Sheffield has over 20 years of experience working in the corporate industry. For the past 6 years, she has worked at RWJBarnabas Medical Center, Livingston NJ as a Manager in the Plant Operations Department. She has also become an entrepreneur in the hospitality business. By coupling event planning and project management skills, she continues to create lasting memories for her clients’ most cherished events. Lending her time to volunteer for organizations such as Daughters of Israel in West Orange NJ and Jazz House Kids of Montclair NJ, she has found a connection with the community that has forged lasting friendships and business partnerships. Raised in Montclair, Gretchen graduated from Immaculate Conception High School and still lives in Essex County with her three beautiful daughters. Gretchen stated, “I am overwhelmed with appreciation to serve on the SOFIA Board of Directors. Supporting this great cause that affects so many families is an honor and dear to my heart.”

Jean Warsager is a business professional with over 20 years of experience in both high-level corporate and non-profit industries. For the past eight years, Jean has been with Horizon BCBSNJ in Newark, NJ as an Administrative Coordinator and was previously the Manager of Student Services at Jazz House Kids in Montclair, NJ. Jean is also an entrepreneur in the jewelry design and hospitality industries. She is passionate about utilizing her experience in the heart of her community to bring people together and create opportunities for others. Born and raised in Montclair, she is an outspoken advocate for diversity and inclusion in all areas, is a mother to a 19 year old daughter and 16 year old son and spends much of her time with her beloved family. Jean shared, “I am grateful for the opportunity to serve on the SOFIA Board of Directors, and I will put my heart and soul into this important mission.”

Gretchen and Jean bring fresh perspectives and renewed energy to S.O.F.I.A. in addition to their long-time dedication to the entire community. Start Out Fresh Intervention Advocates looks forward to continuing to serve clients and the community with dedication to affirm that With Awareness There is Hope.
