“Under the leadership of President Biden and Vice President Harris, we are starting to turn the corner on the coronavirus pandemic,” said Spiller in a statement regarding the visit. “It was my pleasure to greet the Vice President this morning and offer my support as we remain laser-focused on increasing vaccinations and making sure the entire Build Back Better agenda gets over the finish line. It’s time to to make critical investments in America. Thank you to the Vice President for coming to Montclair to advocate for working and middle class families.”
Harris paid a visit to the Ben Samuels Children’s Center at Montclair State University and interacted with the children. She is expected to visit a vaccination site in Essex County College before returning to D.C.
Murphy, who has described Spiller as a dear friend, was on hand for the Montclair mayor’s swearing in ceremony.
