Grand Reopening: Brookdale ShopRite Celebrates Roomy Renovation, New Food Stations

Brookdale ShopRite redux – shiny wide aisles, upscale signage and shelving, fanciful artwork and tasty new food stations are a pleasure to behold.
After months of renovations, gone are the scaffolding, crowded aisles and shopping cart jams. There is definitely a WOW-Factor to the new shopping experience.

High ceilings, bright lights, shiny polished floors: Enter through the vast produce department – and I mean vast – with a straight line of sight to the bakery, across well spaced, huge farmstand style displays of organic produce. Flanking the right, you see the bright bustling prepared food counters that showcase the store’s updated take-away options: Asian wok specialties, Sushi bar, Lavazza Coffee counter, a build your own sandwich bar, and more.

Cheeselovers (it really is addictive) will be happy to see a bigger selection of products under the new Cheesemonger station in the center of the hall. Added bonus: starting soon there will be a resident cheesemonger at the ready to discuss selections, pairings, and answer your cheesey questions!

Besides the expansiveness and airiness of the store, a couple of things are quite evident: the sheer selection and choice has grown and there’s a definite awareness, and commitment to procuring locally sourced and sustainably produced food.

Of note, at least half of the seafood is wild caught; the butcher shop has an expanded case of organic and custom cut meats, next to a NJ Dairy case, “Greenstein Brew House” – is a wall chocker block of local craft breweries.

The pharmacy is now just around the corner from its former location and offers comfy seating while you wait to fill a prescription or get vaccinated. With 14 checkout registers, including 3 handicap accessible, ShopRIte is doing its best to avoid the rush-hour bottlenecks.

Good job, Brookdale ShopRite! You’ve made grocery shopping more comfortable, accessible, and affordable. (Check out the supercoupons in the newspaper for free items, and cash back savings). I’m loving all the new, and glad that General Manager Jerry Manley’s playlist is still on the PA system!

Brookdale ShopRite is a family owned business for three generations, your supermarket with a heart. Open daily, 7am-10pm. 1409 Broad Street, Bloomfield NJ.
