New Year’s Eve Happenings and Celebrations

Yes, 2021 is coming to an end and the Omicron variant is causing last-minute cancellations of many events, especially Broadway shows. A decision about the annual New Year’s Eve celebration in Times Square is expected to come later this week. Locally, these New Jersey New Year’s Eve celebrations are planned; check back to confirm closer to the date.

The Highlawn (1 Crest Drive, West Orange)

The Highlawn will host a New Years Eve Ball in the Skyline Ballroom from 8:00 PM to 1:00 AM. Enjoy a premium open bar with signature cocktails, a DJ, a balloon drop, and food stations, as well as passed appetizers, all with panoramic views of the NYC skyline as a backdrop. Dress to impress. Tickets are $175.

Fresco Da Franco (15 Church Street, Montclair)

Celebrate New Year’s Eve at Fresco Da Franco. Choose from the 6:00 PM seating featuring and a la carte menu or the 8:30 PM seating with a limited prix fixe menu. The second seating includes a 3-course dinner, a NYE ball drop, DJ, burlesque dancers, and more for $125 per person. A signed contract and credit card are required for this seating.

The MC Hotel (690 Bloomfield Avenue, Montclair)

The Alto Rooftop New Years Eve Party will be their biggest event ever. Enjoy food from a culinary master chef, a 3-hour premium open bar with cocktails crafted by the most elite bartenders in the area, and dance the night away with views of Manhattan, while DJ Mike Williams plays all night long. Heated outdoor space for those cozy moments along with indoor space to lounge with friends. Must be 21+ to enter. Tickets are $150. The fun will last from 8:00 PM to 2:00 AM.

QXT’s Nightclub (248 Mulberry Street, Newark)

Celebrate NYE@QXT’S. Doors open at 10:00 PM for music on two levels, three dance floors, and three bars. Party until 5:00 AM. Cover is $22 in advance or $30 at the door.

The Shannon Rose (98 Kingsland Road, Clifton)

Ring out 2021 and celebrate the new year at The Shannon Rose Clifton! Doors open at 9:00 PM. The event will feature live entertainment with Band of Make Believe from 10:00 PM to 1:00 AM, a 4-hour premium open bar, and a 4-course prix fixe menu. Tickets are $125 per person and must be purchased in advance. Seating is first come, first served. 21+ only

Crystal Springs Resort (Sussex County)

The resort offers several parties and sit-down dinners in several of its lodges. Events range from formal to casual. For event listing, prices, and packages, visit the website. All reservations require a 2-night stay.

46 Lounge (300 US Highway 46 East, Totowa)

Party from 8:00 PM to 6:00 AM with music DJ Ammo, DJ Mezo, DG Get Loose, and DJ Anthony Rey playing Open Format, Top 40, Hi-Energy Dance & Today’s Hits. General admission tickets are $100 per person and include 5-hour premium open bar from 8:00 PM to 1:00 AM, passed hors d’oeuvre and sushi rolls, lavish gourmet buffet dinner, dessert station, party favors, hats and noisemakers, live broadcast of the Ball Drop, champagne toast at midnight, and a continental breakfast at 4:00 AM. Table reservations are available for additional cost. Additional table packages and VIP reservations available.

Bowlero (679 Washington Avenue, Belleville)

Bowling fans can end the year doing what they love! The NYE Ball Drop Package features four hours of unlimited bowling (shoes included), food, and champagne/sparkling cider toast. Cost is $43.99 per person and the event runs from 9:00 PM to 1:00 AM.

Pineapple Express Barbecue (1 Lackawanna Plaza, Montclair)

The restaurant will be open at 2:00 PM with their regular menu. The bar will be open and there will be heaters outside so you can enjoy a late lunch, dinner, or watch the ball drop. You can also reserve a special party package for up to 8 guests to watch either the Alabama v. Cincinnati game at 3:30 PM or the Michigan v. Georgia game at 7:30 PM.

Salute Bistro (173 Glenridge Avenue, Montclair)

The restaurant is offering a special holiday catering menu for those who’d like to celebrate at home. The restaurant will also be open from 12:00 PM to 11:00 PM on New Year’s Eve. They’ll also be open on New Year’s Day from 3:00 PM to 11:00 PM. Check the website for the special catering menu and to place your order.

Just Jakes (30 Park Street, Montclair)

Just Jakes will host a buffet, open bar, and music by New Power Soul Band, with a champagne toast. Doors open at 9:00 PM. Tickets are limited and must be purchased in advance. They are $100 per person.

The Barrow House (1296 Van Houten Avenue, Clifton)

Enjoy New Year’s Eve Dinner at The Barrow House before ringing in 2022 from 8:00 PM to 11:00 PM. Reserve your table online. Or, if you prefer, join them for New Year’s Day Pajama Brunch from 11:00 AM to 3:00 PM. Pajamas encouraged!

Wave Resort (110 Ocean Avenue, Long Branch)

Three options are available at Wave Resort. First, enjoy New Year’s Eve on the Rooftop of High Crest from 8:30 PM to 1:30 AM. With glass enclosed, top floor space featuring dazzling, 360-degree views, an ocean-facing bar and wrap-around alfresco terrace, this is the perfect spot to catch Pier Village’s 9 pm firework show, followed by d’oeuvres and food stations, a live DJ, open bar serving beer, wine and champagne and a live countdown to the 2022 ball drop for just $100 a ticket. If you’d like dinner before the party, NYE Dining at 100 Ocean is offering 3-course menu seatings at 5:30 PM and 6:30 PM for $75 and 4-course seatings at 7:30 PM and 9:30 PM for $100.
