Letter to the Editor: On March 8th – Be an Active and Informed Voter!

Dear Montclair Neighbors,

Special elections have a notoriously LOW voter turnout. The upcoming vote for two new Montclair School Board members is important whether or not you have children in the schools. Let’s flip the script of low turnout on Tuesday, March 8th, 2022!

Montclair voters have two ways to cast their ballots for this special election: Vote by Mail and in-person at your regular polling place. If you previously requested to vote by mail, you should have already received your ballot. March 1st is the last day you can request a ballot to vote by mail. Please access and print that form here (https://bit.ly/VBMessex) ASAP if you plan to vote by mail. If you plan to vote in person, set a reminder and make a plan to be there on Tuesday, March 8th between 6:00 am and 8:00pm! Double-check your polling place at this link.pastedGraphic.pngTo make an informed vote, please take time to research the candidates. Find candidate responses to a variety of questions here: PTAC Questionnaire, and tune in to the remaining forums hosted by the Montclair Clergy Association and SEPAC (Special Education Parent Advisory Council).

On Sunday, February 27th the Montclair Clergy Association forum is happening at 7:30 PM via zoom. Register at this link: https://bit.ly/3JKu1hJ

On Monday, February 28th, SEPAC is hosting a forum focused on special education in the Montclair Public Schools at 7:00 PM. For more information, see their page here: SEPAC forum.

Voters in the last election made a clear choice to be active, knowledgeable, and responsible participants in the selection of Montclair School Board members. Let’s make sure we start out strong and make a decision based on more than chance or marketing. Read, listen, discuss with your neighbors, and cast your two votes for school board with informed intention.

See you at the polls!
