Latte art throwdowns have become a popular way to gather baristas and coffee-lovers alike as they enjoy some friendly competition and celebrate local talent in the industry. The sixteen spots for artistic baristas are quickly filling up. These baristas will go head-to-head, tournament style, to determine who can create the best latte art from steamed milk. Three judges will score each pour based on symmetry, line clarity and contrast, creativity and presentation.

Admission is free for spectators. There will be pop-up vendors, prizes and more, and a selection of Boho’s best drinks and bites will be featured for the event. Cost to compete is $20, where half will go towards the grand prize winner. The other half of the proceeds will be donated to Montclair Emergency Services for Hope (M.E.S.H.), a local organization dedicated to providing essential services to Montclair’s most vulnerable homeless.

“We are excited to host the very first throwdown in Montclair,” said Sam Lopez, co-owner of Boho Cafe. “We have a lineup of top-notch baristas from both NJ as well as some of the hottest cafes in New York City. Not only is this event meant to feature great talent, it also serves as an opportunity to shine a spotlight on M.E.S.H., an organization that is very close to our hearts.”
