“AAPI Montclair is honored to be partnering with Montclair Film on programming for AAPI Heritage Month. We’re absolutely thrilled that Sundance award-winning director Nanfu Wang will be present to screen and discuss her latest documentary IN THE SAME BREATH, a timely film covering China’s initial reaction to the pandemic. The past year in movies has seen several milestones for AAPI and we look forward to showcasing these in the lineup, including SHANG CHI featuring the first Asian Marvel superhero and ETERNALS directed by Chloe Zhao, the first Asian American to win an Oscar for Directing and first woman of color to direct a Marvel movie. As a vital cultural institution in our community, Montclair Film’s commitment to programming that represents and speaks to our diverse community is significant and heartening. It’s been so rewarding to collaborate, and we look forward to celebrating the fruits of this partnership in May and beyond,” said Linda Kow, Board Chair AAPI Montclair and Holly Kang, founder of newly formed AAPI Montclair Film Club

“Montclair Film is excited to join with AAPI Montclair in celebration of AAPI Heritage Month,” said Montclair Film executive Director and Co-Head Beth Gottung. “We are honored to be able to bring these wonderful films and filmmakers to our screens as part of AAPI Montclair’s important work in our community.”
