Montclair, NJ – On Thursday, September 8 at 6:30 p.m., Montclair Public Library will be hosting “EV 101: A Brief Introduction to Electric Vehicles,” co-presented by Montclair Climate Action and the Sierra Club. Whether you’re considering switching to an electric vehicle (EV) or just curious about your options, learn all about driving electric from experts and EV owners: the myths, the advantages, the new financial incentives, and environmental benefits. A question and answer period will follow. Register at bit.ly/EV_101

EV 101 is the first program of “Living Green,” a three-part series co-presented by Montclair Climate Action (MCA) and the Sierra Club that will inform conservation-minded consumers about the latest in technology. In November, the library will present MCA’s program on energy aggregation and renewable electricity, and in January 2023, the library will welcome MCA back for a session on rooftop solar energy.

“The “Living Green” series goes along with our other consumer programs and environmental initiatives,” says Library Director Janet Torsney. “From Adult School classes on “edible landscapes,” to the beautiful native gardens that were planted in front of the library, we are proud to do everything we can to keep Montclair beautiful and sustainable.”

Montclair Climate Action is a group of local residents that formed out of concern over the climate crisis, but also a faith that Montclair can become a leader in its response to the climate crisis. They work with the township government to promote policies that will drive the transition to renewable energy, such as adoption of town-wide renewable energy, town-wide composting, and purchasing of electric vehicles. MCA also works with the public to increase support for these policies and to encourage residents to do what they can for themselves, whether that is reducing waste, buying renewable energy, or taking public transportation. Through systemic change, MCA hopes to create a Montclair and a world where we can all live in a way that leaves a better world for our children and grandchildren.
