Where To Go Apple Picking in New Jersey

Apple picking, hayrides, corn mazes, and of course, cider doughnuts! Nothing makes you feel like fall is here as much as strolling through an orchard on a beautiful, crisp autumn day. There are plenty of orchards in North and Central Jersey offering up different apple varieties, as well as activities the whole family can enjoy! Most orchards require advance ticket purchase, so be sure to visit the website to learn their policies and procedures before heading out.

Alstede Farms
1 Alstede Farms Lane, Chester Township, NJ 07930

Pick Your Own is open daily through November. Tickets must be purchased on the website prior to your visit. The farm is open from 9:00 AM to 6:00 PM, with the last admission at 4:30. Your ticket purchase will include access to the PYO area with a container, the cost of the produce to fill that container, scenic hay wagon rides around the farm, access to the hay pyramid, evergreen maze, corn maze, and Blooming Giants Sunflower Trail.

Melick’s Town Farm
472 County Road 513, Califon, NJ 07830

Open every day from 9:00 AM to 6:00 PM into November. Last entry to the farm is 5:00 PM. On the 200 acres of working farmland, visitors can enjoy the tractor tire playground, a corn maze, cute goats, a picnic area, and tractor wagon rides (weekend only). Sun High Orchards
19 Canfield Avenue, Randolph, NJ 07869

The apple orchard is open for picking from 10:00 AM to 5:00 PM, Tuesday through Friday, and on weekends from 9:00 AM to 5:00 PM. Apple picking is closed on Mondays. The entry fee is $3 on weekends and $2 on weekdays. Children 4 and under are free. Apples are paid for separately.

Demarest Farms
244 Wierimus Road, Hillsdale, NJ

You must book admission online. General admission is $7 per person aged 2 and over. Your admission includes parking, entrance to the apple orchard, a petting zoo, and a playground. Hayrides are also available on weekends. You can also buy a bag for $15 that will hold the apples you pick. Open on weekends through October from 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM. Reservations are required for all pick-your-own activities.

Terhune Orchards
330 Cold Soil Road, Princeton, NJ (Apple picking located at 13 Van Kirk Road.)

Fields are open daily from 9:00 AM to 5:00 PM. All guests aged 4 and up must purchase a bag at Check-In. Complete guidelines and procedures page is available here. Family fun weekends will be held on Saturdays and Sundays through October 30 with three-hour timeslots available.

Lee Turkey Farm
201 Hickory Corner Road, East Windsor, NJ

Open Monday through Saturday from 9:00 AM to 6:00 PM and Sunday 2:00 PM to 6:00 PM. Last entry to begin picking is 5:00 PM. Admission is $3 per person aged 3 and up. Visit the website for additional guidelines.

Wightman Farms

Open Saturdays and Sundays from 9:00 AM to 5:00 PM for the Fall Festival. Admission includes orchard entry, Mazeland entry with seven mazes, tote bag to hold the apples, a pumpkin, and scenic hayrides. Tickets are $25 per person. There is an additional cost for the apples you pick. Children 3 years and under are free.

Mackeys Orchard

The orchard is open for PYO weekends from 10:00 AM to 4:00 PM. To get to the orchard to pick, you must take a hayride which is $3 per person aged 4 and up. Apples are paid for separately. Visit the website for more information and a statement about this year’s apple crop.

Pochuck Valley Farms

The farm is open daily through November 1st from 7:00 AM to 4:00 PM to pick apples, pears, and plums. Apple cider, donuts, and other baked goods are available in the market.
