Do you love a nice glass of wine? New Jersey, the Hudson Valley, and Pennsylvania are home to many wineries with terrific options less than 90 minutes from Montclair. If you’re looking for a fun afternoon or evening out with great tasting wine and gorgeous scenery, check out some of these vineyards and wineries.

Ventimiglia Vineyard
Where: 101 Layton Road, Wantage, NJ
Hours: Saturday 11:00 AM to 6:00 PM and Sunday 11:00 AM to 4:00 PM.

Small batch, handcrafted wines are made in oak barrels with minimal chemical or mechanical intervention. They produce a variety of white and red wines, and private tastings are available.

Laurita Winery
Where: 85 Archertown Road, New Egypt, NJ
Hours: Varies by day; closed on Wednesdays.

The winery was voted Best Winery in New Jersey for 2022 by Eat This, Not That. It hosts many events including comedy nights, food trucks, concerts, tours and tastings. There’s also a marketplace with food available for pairing. They have a wide variety of wines include reds and whites, as well as a chocolate wine and sangria.

Alba Vineyard
Where: 269 Riegelsville Warren Glen Road, Village of Finesville, Milford, NJ
Hours: Monday through Thursday from 11:00 AM to 4:00 PM, from 11:00 AM to 9:00 PM Friday and Saturday, and 11:00 AM to 5:00 PM on Sunday

The estate is 93 acres and located in the rolling hills of Warren County, with a focus on renewable viticulture and minimal impact. In addition to self-guided daily wine flights, they host private tours and events, weddings, and other activities. They offer many wines including reds, whites, dessert wines and others.

Four Sisters Winery
Where: 783 North Bridgeville Road, Belvidere, NJ
Hours: Thursday through Monday from 10:00 AM to 6:00 PM. Closed Tuesdays and Wednesdays.

The winery has been open since 1984. Their award-winning wines include red, white, rose and fruit wines. The winery hosts events throughout the year such as Murder Mystery Dinners, live music, and barefoot grape stomping.

Cream Ridge Winery
Where: 149 Route 539, Cream Ridge, NJ
Hours: Monday through Saturday from 12:00 PM to 6:00 PM and Sunday from 12:00 PM to 5:00 PM.

Cream Ridge’s wines are sold exclusively at the winery and local farmers markets, unlike other wineries. They offer a large selection whites, reds, and fruit wines, all handcrafted in small batches. Tastings are available daily until one hour before close. Reservations are not needed for tastings for groups of 5 or fewer.

Working Dog Winery
Where: 610 Perrineville Road, Hightstown, NJ
Hours: Friday from 12:00 PM to 6:00 PM, Saturday and Sunday from 11:00 AM to 6:00 PM

Wine tastings are available, and reservations are encouraged but not required. To simply visit, reservations are not taken. The winery is food-friendly, and bringing nibbles and snacks is permitted. Well-behaved dogs are allowed but must remain outside.

Terhune Orchards Vineyard & Winery
Where: 330 Cold Soil Road, Princeton, NJ
Hours: Friday through Sunday from 12:00 PM to 5:00 PM

Offering a variety of grape and apple-based wines, the winery also hosts special events and wine trails. It is located in the open-air setting of the 100-year-old historic apple orchard. The site is also home to farmyard activities, a farm store, and a pick-your-own selection of fruits and vegetables. Visit the website for a schedule of events. On weekends through October 30, admission to the Fall Family Fun Weekends is required to access the farm and winery.


Iron Plow Vineyards
Where: 26750 Mt. Pleasant Road, Columbus, NJ
Hours: Thursday through Sunday from 12:00 PM to 6:00 PM (10:00 PM on Friday and Saturday)

This boutique farm winery uses sustainable farming practices and unique attention to small batches. Reservations are not required. Enjoy live music and food, including artisan cheeses, charcuterie, and more. A additional tasting room is located at 61 High Street, Mt. Holly.

Hopewell Valley Vineyards
Where: 46 Yard Road, Pennington, NJ
Hours: Monday through Thursday from 11:00 AM to 3:00 PM, Friday and Saturday from 12:00 PM to 9:00 PM, and Sunday from 12:00 PM to 5:00 PM.

The vineyards are situated at the base of Sourland Mountains, close to the Delaware Valley, on 75 acres of land. Only large group (10-20 people) wine tastings are available at this time, and reservations must be made in advance. You may purchase wine by the glass or bottle at any time. Customized wine flights may also be available. Brick oven pizza and other light fare is offered Friday through Sunday.

Brook Hollow Winery
Where: 594 State Route 94, Columbia, NJ
Hours: Open daily at 12:00 PM. Closes at 5:00 PM Monday through Thursday, 8:30 PM on Friday, and 6:00 PM on Saturday and Sunday.

The winery opened in 2006, and tastings are offered daily. Special events include Friday Night Food, an Annual Pig Roast, Oktoberfest, Corks & Crafts, Paint Your Pet, and more.

Fox Hollow Vineyards
Where: 939 Holmdel Road, Holmdel, NJ
Hours: Open daily from 11:00 AM to 6:30 PM (9:00 PM on Fridays)

The Casola Family has owned and operated this 94-acre vineyard for six generations. There is live music on Fridays, Saturdays, and Sunday. Tastings are available, as well as food and chocolate pairings.

Warwick Valley Winery & Distillery
Where: 114 Little York Road, Warwick, NY
Hours: Open daily from 11:00 AM to 6:00 PM

The winery is open for tastings 362 days per year. There is live music on the weekends from 2:00 PM and 5:00 PM. Additionally, they host various festivals throughout the year, with admission costs varying by event. During apple season, Labor Day through Halloween, admission to the winery is $10 per car. There are a number of tasting options available, including wine, cider, spirits, and cheese. Food is available in either the café or grill.

Applewood Winery
Where: 82 Four Corners Road, Warwick, NY
Hours: Daily from 11:00 AM to 5:00 PM through October. Check website for new hours beginning in November.

This winery boasts a number of limited-edition barrel-fermented reds and steel-aged whites, as well as fruit wines and hard cider. Enjoy self-guided tasting flights, wines and ciders, and meads by the glass or bottle, house-made cocktails, creative light bites, and some breathtaking scenery. Live music is on site every weekend from 2:00 PM to 5:00 PM.

Clearview Vineyard
Where: 35 Clearview Lane, Warwick, NY
Hours: Friday through Sunday from 12:00 PM to 5:00 PM from April to mid-December

The winery offers tastings every weekend in their winery or enjoying the beautiful views from the front porch. They also serve a variety of ciders, beers, and ales from local establishments. Food is available and live music is performed every weekend from 2:00 PM to 5:00 PM.

Torne Valley Vineyards
Where: Torne Valley Road, Hillburn, NY
Hours: Saturday and Sunday from 11:00 AM to 5:30 PM

The winery is located on a 19th century country estate in Rockland County. It features a Victorian mansion and views of the Ramapo River. They offer wine tastings, a small plate menu, and live music each weekend.

Brotherhood Winery
Where: 100 Brotherhood Plaza Drive, Washingtonville, NY
Hours: Tuesday through Sunday from 11:00 AM to 5:00 PM (6:00 PM on Fridays and Saturdays)

Brotherhood Winery was established in 1839. They offer tastings daily and tours on Fridays, Saturdays, and Sundays. Events and live music are hosted throughout the year and the winery is also available for corporate and private events.

Mountain View Vineyard
Where: 2332 Walters Road, Stroudsburg, PA
When: Daily from 11:00 AM to 6:00 PM (9:00 PM on Friday and Saturday)

Not just a vineyard, Mountainview is a winery, brewery, and distillery, and the only one like it in the Poconos. Enjoy drinks and food in the Bistro while taking in the view. Reservations are required for indoor or covered seating. Tastings are available daily, and tours are offered every Saturday at 1:00 PM and 2:00 PM.

Eagles Rest Cellars
Where: 107 Eagles Rest Lane, Stroudsburg, PA
When: Wednesday and Thursday from 12:00 PM to 6:00 PM, Saturdays from 11:00 AM to 8:00 PM, and Sundays from 12:00 PM to 6:00 PM.

The winery offers tasting flights, seasonal sangria, wine by the bottle or glass, craft beer, and specialty drinks. The outdoor areas are open, and there are firepits available. Lawn chairs, blankets, and outside food are all permitted, and reservations are not required.
