Montclair, NJ – Friends of Anderson Park is sponsoring its fifth annual short-story contest for Montclair middle-school students. Students in grades 6-8 attending all Montclair schools — public, private or home-schooled — are eligible to enter. All genres are welcome, but Anderson Park must feature somehow in the story.
Winners each receive $100, and there will be a televised awards ceremony at Watchung Booksellers, where the winning stories will be read aloud. The deadline has been extended to midnight on March 8, 2023.
Stories can be in any genre, 500-2,500 words, and must observe the same guidelines in subject matter and language that would apply in school. Entries should be typed and double-spaced, with numbered pages. The author’s name, phone number, grade and school name (unless home-schooled) should be on every page. Additional information is at friendsofandersonpark.com/story-contest/. Questions may be directed to firstname.lastname@example.org, or Ann Evans at (973) 495-0338.
