Flower Show Coming to the Van Vleck House & Gardens
After a long, unanticipated hiatus, the Garden Club of Montclair is staging a Design Specialty Flower Show, Arts & Flowers, at the beautiful Van Vleck House & Gardens from September 16-18, 2022. The show will adhere to all the specifications of the National Garden Club and will be judged by a team of Accredited Flower Show judges and professional photographers and awards will be given.
Arts & Flowers will include Flower Designs, Botanical Arts, Photography, and Educational Exhibits. As the title suggests, the focus will be on the visual and performing arts. Exhibitors have been challenged to create floral designs inspired by the music of Broadway, the movements of a symphony, the blues of Jazz, or the popping of Hip-Hop. There will be interpretations of Monet, Matisse, and Warhol in petite flower designs and collages. A highlight will be the Alvin Ailey Challenge Design where six exhibitors given the same components will create their own unique design interpretations.
The Photography Division classes staged in the Education Center of Van Vleck will feature both color and black and white images that illustrate patterns or reflections in nature, as well as an “Avis Campbell Jubilee” class with photo exhibits of the club’s beloved gardens in celebration of its 70th anniversary. Three classes of photographs will be judged.
The two Education exhibits will highlight the importance of native trees and showcase the dedicated efforts of the Avis Campbell gardening team.
Arts & Flowers is FREE and open to the public September 16 through the 18th; Friday 1-5 pm, Saturday 10 am-4 pm, Sunday 10 am-2 pm at Van Vleck House & Gardens, 21 Van Vleck Street, Montclair NJ.
