Family Constellation Therapy Workshop
October 16, 2017 @ 9:00 am - 6:00 pm
I was introduced to Family Constellations work a few years ago by a psychotherapist from Spain, Diana Martinez. I found Diana’s intuition in the healing and connection of soul within family systems striking.
As a Coach/Mentor, I am deeply interested in observing these difficult family patterns unravel and how the intentional energy of one individual to honor the family system seems to create waves that allow for change. When one person changes, there is opportunity for a transition in all of the system.
Founded by Bert Hellinger from Germany, Family Constellations honor all family systems with backgrounds from all nations of ancestors including indigenous cultures. The guiding principal is of first honoring the particular family’s existence as the factual and spiritual base, separate from the individuals’ behavior. These family systems could include collective family trauma and family entanglements in their history.
Bert Hellinger traveled throughout the world, first spending years in Africa observing indigenous tribal family life and ritual, and he later studied European family systems. He learned that vital questions might include: Were there stillborn members of the family, or individuals who died young? Were there important significant past relationships prior to marriage in the family system?
I have seen deeply moving shifts in my life and in others who have created their family blueprint. In the Constellation circle, the therapist asks the person chosen to identify what they see as the primary issue. The person then is directed to choose representatives in the group to represent their relevant family members. From there the underlying family story unfolds to provide new insights.
