Participants will learn the foundational hand-building and wheel throwing ceramic techniques.

Starting with inspiration from the Newark Museum’s ceramic collections, participants will create functional and decorative objects using pinch-pot, slab-building, coil-building, and wheel throwing methods. The course will cover the basics of working with clay and allows participants to trim, embellish, and glaze their works.
Registration includes instruction, use of studio equipment and tools, and 25 pounds of clay along with glaze and kiln firings. Additional clay, (glaze and kiln firings included) is available to purchase for $2 per pound.
Teaching Artist: Roz Weinberger, Studied at For the Love of Mud in West Milford, NJ, Old Church Cultural Center, Demerest, NJ, Queens College, NY, and Wortendyke Pottery School, Midland Park, NJ and is a member of the New Jersey Potter’s Guild.
Courses will run as scheduled only if minimum enrollment is met. If not, all registered participants will be notified within one week of first class and registration fees will be refunded.
