We will never forget Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.’s words and actions, or his impact as an activist, working to give a voice to all.

Join us at the Museum to celebrate his life and further his mission.  All day long we will have hands-on activities, planetarium showings, music, performances and free health screenings. You and your family won’t want to miss this annual celebration!

Activities include:

  •  Free health screenings on site from Newark Community Health Centers
    •    Tour the galleries looking at influential African American artists in our collection
    •    Storytelling in the galleries
    •    Choir Performances (at 10:30 am and 11:30 am)
    •    Premier Dance performances (at 1 & 3 pm)
    •    “I Have a Dream” speech on loop in the Auditorium all day
    •    Community post-it board in the auditorium lobby where guests can write their dream
    •    “Take What You Need” button activity (using MLK Jr. inspirational quotes in the Program Hall)
    •    Civil Rights Pendant making in the Maker Space
    •    “I Have A Dream” kids craft
    •    Planetarium showings of Civil Rights Show
