Women’s History Jazz Brunch

MONTCLAIR, NJ — The Undoing Racism Committee (URC) of the Unitarian Universalist Congregation at Montclair (UUCM) invites you to attend its 3rd annual Jazz Brunch located at 67 Church Street, Montclair, NJ on Sunday, March 12th, 2017 at 12:30 P.M. The event is presented in celebration of Women’s History Month and will present entertainment, good food, and an educational presentation concerning Black women’s reproductive health.
Highlighting the afternoon, entertainment will be provided by the versatile and well known songstress, Miss Denise Hamilton, who is capable of performing and making any occasion a success. She has often been compared to Phyllis Hyman, Nancy Wilson, and Minnie Ripperton. Miss Hamilton is a resident of Montclair. She will be accompanied by legendary Melvin Davis on keyboard. Mr Davis is well known for his playing and contributions on various albums with George Benson, Ronnie Jordan and many others.
Dr. Denise V. Rodgers is the Vice Chancellor for Interprofessional Programs at Rutgers Biomedical and Health Sciences and Director of the Rutgers Urban Health and Wellness Institute. As a professor in the Department of Family Medicine and Community Health, she will discuss the adverse impacts of racism and how it pertains to health, as well as disparities in health outcomes. Dr. Rodgers is also a Montclair resident.

Residents of Montclair and surrounding communities are welcome to this program. The Undoing Racism Committee of UUCM is entering its 24th year of anti-racist work at the congregation. The Undoing Racism Committee seeks to raise awareness of ongoing systemic oppression of people of color.
(Please Note: Parking is very difficult in this area, so be sure to leave extra time to find street parking or to use the parking deck accessed from Park St. just south of Church St., one block away from the event.)
