PIANO FESTIVAL at MSU - June 28-30


c97be7db-0088-3d3d-a28a-36efe180b6d5.jpegThe Cali School of Music at MSU is presenting the EIGHTH TAUBMAN PIANO FESTIVAL. Fri-Sun, June 28-30, 2019. This 3-day festival honors the the extraordinary piano teaching approach of Dorothy Taubman (1917-2013). Mrs. Taubman was able to provide the tools and techniques to allow for free expression of the musical phrase and artistic spirit. The Festival will include informative workshops and hands-on demonstrations about the Taubman Approach to piano playing. These will be oriented for a wide range of attendees, including students, piano teachers, and also jazz pianists. There will also be three recitals, and all are open to the public without festival registration. Suggested Donation $15 at the door. Upon completing her doctorate at Juilliard, Dr. Sasaki won the Juilliard Career Advancement Fellowship as a graduate who demonstrated outstanding artistry and achievement in leadership, entrepreneurship, and breadth of engagement. Based in New York City, Dr. Sasaki is a faculty member at The Juilliard School, where she teaches piano and keyboard skills courses in the Evening Division, and Piano Topics and keyboard skills for pianists in the College Division. TIFFANY POON Born in Hong Kong, Tiffany Poon was accepted into the Juilliard School Pre- College Division on a full scholarship at the age of eight and made her solo and concerto debut in the USA when she was ten years old. Tiffany received a full scholarship from the Columbia University/Juilliard School exchange program and is currently studying for a Masters degree at Yale University’s School of Music. She will participate in the Bohème 2020 program as part of this summer’s Dresden Music Festival and Moritzburg Festival. In the 19/20 season, she will debut at the Mozarteum. In addition to performing and studying, Tiffany also devotes her time to making videos on YouTube, where she shares insights of her life as a musician with the goal to peel back the curtain on classical music.
