08-08-2017 (Pine Street) Ms. Amani Taylor, 33yoa from Newark, was arrested for acting disorderly and refusing to comply with officers at the scene of a disturbance.

08-09-2017 (Madeline, South Park Street) Mr. Isaiah Nesbit, 25yoa from Orange, was arrested for shoplifting numerous pieces of jewelry from the store.

08-10-2017 (Walnut Street) Mr. Dontch Charles, 25yoa from Irvington, was arrested during a traffic stop when officers observed that he was in possession of a handgun. Mr. Charles was charged with Unlawful Possession of a Handgun. Continue Reading

07-30-2017 (Pine Street) Mr. Kevin Coleman, 33yoa from Montclair, was arrested on open warrants out of Montclair, Bloomfield, Newark, and Verona.

07-31-2017 (Valley Road) Mr. William Spano, 53yoa from Montclair, was arrested on open warrants out of West Caldwell, Cedar Grove, and Bloomfield.

08-05-2017 (Bloomfield Avenue) Mr. Angel Vela, 36yoa from Jersey City, was arrested and charged with DWI and Possession of CDS. The vehicle passengers, Ms. Silvia Sarceno (26yoa from Jersey City) and Ms. Liana Wright-Padilla (32yoa from Jersey City) were also charged with Possession of CDS.

08-05-2017 (Elm Street) Mr. Malik Alston, 23yoa from East Orange, was arrested and charged with Burglary and Possession of Burglary Tools after being observed by a passerby carrying numerous bags of sneakers and electronics out of a residence, which he had just broken into.

08-06-2017 (Park Street) Mr. Jarmaill Latta, 37yoa from Bloomfield, was arrested and charged with DWI.

07/24/2017- Several marker flags valued at $60.00 dollars each were stolen from the Glen Ridge Country Club Golf Course located at 797 Broad Street. The theft occurred during the overnight hours.

07/25/2017- A black and gold BMX bicycle was stolen from Glenwood Ave & Lackawanna Plaza. The owner discovered the lock which secured the bicycle, broken and his bicycle missing. The bicycle was stolen between the hours of 12pm and 6pm. Continue Reading

07-28-2017 (Bellevue Avenue) Mr. Thomas Purnell, 59yoa from Newark, was arrested after being observed trespassing in the rear yard of a residence. He was found to be in possession of burglary tools. He was also held on an open warrant out of East Orange.


07-25-2017 (Glenridge Avenue) Theft of a motorcycle from an apartment complex parking area.

07-25-2017 (Upper Mountain Avenue) Theft from an unlocked motor vehicle. Loose change, cellular telephone, and charger were taken.

07-25-2017 (Forest Street) Burglary to the basement storage area of an apartment building. A bicycle was taken in this incident.

07-26-2017 (Walnut Street Station) Theft of a bicycle, which had been left locked to the station bike rack.

Montclair Police Investigating Reports of Possible Shots Fired on Pine Street

Montclair Police received a call of possible shots fired on Pine Street near the intersection of Glenridge Avenue Sunday after 10 p.m. Callers reported hearing 3-4 shots being fired in the street. Officers were unable to locate any bullet holes in that area. There were no injuries reported in this incident. This incident is under investigation.

Bloomfield Police Need Your Help To Identify Suspect in Armed Robbery of Gas Station

The Bloomfield Police Department would like your help to identify a suspect in an armed robbery that took place on 7/17/17 at 3:10 am. The Exxon Gas station at 491 Bloomfield Ave was robbed at gunpoint and we need your help to identify the suspect in the video attached to this alert.
The suspect is described as a black male in his mid 40s-50s. 5’10” 150-160 lbs wearing black framed glasses with a pronounced limp in his right leg.

Montclair Police Make Arrest Following Spate of Multiple Vehicle Burglaries

Montclair Police officers officers were dispatched to Wildwood Avenue on a report of a subject looking into parked vehicles on Friday. Officers in that area working a construction detail observed a male matching the suspect description. This subject, Danny Gonzalez, 20, from Newark, was in possession of burglary tools and proceeds from recent thefts from vehicles in that area. He was also arrested and processed on a Theft of a Motor Vehicle charge from a Lorraine Avenue incident in 2016.

Through investigation, Mr. Gonzalez was discovered to have been responsible for 22 vehicle burglaries and the theft of two motor vehicles in Montclair.

These burglaries occurred in the areas of Cooper Avenue, Gordonhurst Avenue, Marion Road and Beverly Road. He was subsequently charged with 13 counts of Burglary and 15 counts of Theft. Continue Reading

Montclair Crime: Multiple Incidents of Theft From Unlocked Cars

Lock your doors, Montclair — that means car doors, too! During the period of July 5 through July 10, thieves made off with loose change, cash and other items from cars, most of which were left unlocked. Check if your street was affected and take note of this message from Montclair Police:

Montclair Police Department reminds all residents to lock their vehicles while unattended. We also advise against storing valuables in the passenger compartment of vehicles. We have been experiencing an increase in thefts from motor vehicles across the township. The area most affected is Valley Road and its neighboring streets in the northern end of town. In almost every reported incident, the vehicle targeted had been left unlocked. Please contact the Police Department immediately should you observe anything unusual.

07-05-2017 (Washington Avenue) Theft from an unlocked motor vehicle. Loose change was taken in this incident.

07-05-2017 (Afterglow Way) Theft of a pocketbook, purse, and clothing items from a parked vehicle. Access was gained by prying a door lock.

07-06-2017 (Glenridge Avenue) Theft of a purse and a laptop from an unlocked motor vehicle.

Montclair Man Charged With Attempted Murder, Police Investigating Stabbing Incident

Montclair Police responded to a residence Monday at 11 a.m. on a report of a stabbing incident.

Upon arriving, police were notified that the victim had already arrived at an area hospital for treatment. The victim, a 46-year-old Montclair female had been stabbed numerous times with a knife, by a 40-year-old Montclair man in a domestic violence incident.

The victim is stable at this time. The male suspect was arrested and charged with Attempted Murder and Weapons Offenses. This incident is under investigation.

06/26/2017- Alexander Walker age 39 of Newark NJ was arrested at 9:08am and charged with Shoplifting. The incident occurred at the Stop & Shop Store located at 8 Franklin Street. Mr. Walker concealed cosmetic items inside his bag and attempted to exit the store. Store security detained Mr. Walker until the arrival of police. Mr. Walker also had several active warrants issued by Roselle Township, Kearny, East Orange and Bloomfield.

06/29/2017- A gold chain and loose change were reported stolen from a vehicle parked overnight on Waldo Ave. The owner discovered vehicle ransacked the next morning.

06/29/2017- Homeowner on Fulton Street reported a package stolen from the front porch. The delivery was confirmed via a photo of the package on the porch with a delivery time of 10:44am. The items were valued at $82.00 dollars.

07/01/2017- Orlando Christmas age 54 of Newark was arrested and charged with shoplifting at the Stop & Shop Store. PO Suzanne Looges was alerted by store security of the theft with the suspect running through the parking lot. After a brief foot pursuit the suspect identified as Mr. Christmas a habitual offender was taken into custody at the corner of Magnolia Street and Franklin Street. Mr. Christmas was additionally charged with Resisting Arrest and Defiant Trespass. All proceeds were recovered and returned to the store.

Aggravated Assault

06/27/2017- A pizza delivery driver was assaulted while attempting to make a delivery to a residence on Highview Terrace. The suspect later identified as Enrigue Hernandez struck the victim with a metal object as he approached the residence to deliver the pizza. The victim received injuries to his left cheek and left hand. The suspect continued yelling at the victim, threatening to get a gun and shoot him. The victim fled the area and called 911. The suspect arrived at police headquarters a short time later where he was placed into custody and charged with Aggravated Assault, Terroristic Threats and Possession of a Weapon for Unlawful Purpose.

07/02/2017- Police were dispatched to a residence on Grove Street on a report of a stabbing. Officers arrived and spoke with the victim who stated she had a physical altercation with her husband. The altercation led into the kitchen, when the suspect grabbed a knife and the victim attempted to gain control of it, which led to the laceration on her arm. The suspect then fled on foot. The Essex County Prosecutors Office was notified and approved the charges of Unlawful Possession of a Weapon, Possession of a Weapon for Unlawful Purpose and Aggravated Assault. Police are actively attempting to locate the suspect. He is presently entered as a wanted person. Continue Reading
